Student Goals:
  1. Reduce student anxiety about public speaking; deliver 2-3-minute speech in class
  2. Reduce student impulsive behavior
Methods:
  1. Anxiety:
    • work in small groups, interact with others
    • observe and record classroom participation
    • set specific # of times as goal after data collected
    • review and reset goals with improvement (# of participation times, # of people interacted with, etc)
    • deliver short speech (30 seconds- 1 minute)  to small group
    • deliver 2-minute speech to small group
    • Deliver 2-3-minute speech to class
  2. Impulsive Behavior
    • Observe and record student behavior (Heather and Kim)
    • Establish typical # of times/class period
    • Set a # goal to lesson impulsive behavior
How will we know when goal is met?
  1. Anxiety: completion of formative steps:
    • small group interaction
    • short small group speech
    • longer small group speech
    • longer speech to class
  2. Impulsive Behavior:
    • Observational data will either show reduction in occurrence or not
